Peter Farrington is a figurative oil painter classically trained in the impressionist and constructivist Russian painting tradition. Peter spent four years studying figurative drawing, painting and composition at the Florence Classical Arts Academy (formerly known as Russian Academy of Art) in Florence, Italy. He has since moved to Liverpool, England with his wife.
From an early age Peter was captivated by the power of beauty to expose the inconsolable longing of the human heart. Whether standing before a Rothko, a Kandinsky or a Velasquez, it was this communicative ability of painting that compelled him to find a message worth telling and to learn the language of art.
Notable for their atmospheric light and colour, his oil paintings combine traditional methods and contemporary composition that balance poetic vision and conceptual design. His most common subject matter is portraiture and the human figure, portrayed in images that endeavor to point us to transcendental beauty.
